Egyptian daily Al Ahram Thursday published an opinion piece that contained news about a new law known as the "Farewell Intercourse Law" which Egypt's parliament is considering to enact. The law would allow husbands to have sex with their dead wives up to six hours after death. The opinion piece was written by Amr Abdul Samea, a strong supporter of Hosni Mubarak. News of the proposal of the controversial law has sparked outrage among women's rights group, especially within Egypt's National Council for Women blaming the government of "marginalizing and undermining the status of women" that would affect the country's human development negatively. Jaber al-Qarmouty, prominent Egyptian TV anchor, criticized the whole idea of "allowing husband to have sex with dead wife. This is unbelievable. It is a catastrophe to give the husband such a right! Has the Islamic trend reached that far? Is there really a draft law in this regard? Are there people thinking in this manner?"

Actress Suzanne Dodd, 43, who once had a role on popular soap "Eastenders," recalled to The (London) Daily Telegraph how the bird of prey grabbed one of her two Jack Russell terriers as they walked near Benalmadena on Saturday afternoon.
"Suddenly this enormous bird swooped across the path. With one talon it grabbed her nose and the other her collar and I thought that was it for the dog but it struggled for a moment and I moved in," she said.
"I had just a moment to act and grabbed hold of its enormous wing. It turned and bit me but released the dog."
Dodd, who lives in Benalmadena, said the failed attempt didn't stop the eagle from trying again as she ran with her dogs for cover.
"It swooped down on us about 20 times," she said. "It was a surreal and terrifying experience."
In the early 1940s, the United States Army was testing the idea of parachuting from planes as a way of deploying troops.
